What Do I Do With My Life?

Don’t we all have this moment in our lives, at least once but possibly a dozen times?

We sit and wonder what it is that we are supposed to be doing with our lives.

We may have a degree, or three. But is it what we are meant to be doing?

“The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.”

Fyodor Dostoyevsky

What will make our hearts sing? When we get out of bed in the morning, what is it that will excite us to get the day started?

I wondered that for a very long time.

And what I came to realize is that there were some things I needed to understand first.

Such as:

Why are you doing what you are doing? What is the purpose behind your actions?

I saw this question a lot as I started blogging. It’s something that others ask writers frequently. Why do you choose this as your career?

“the combination of your WHY and HOWs is as exclusively yours as your fingerprint.”

Simon Sinek

And I think for me it (the answer) was a little bit different. I love to write, and I have for a long time. But my writing now is more focused on certain topics. Ones that I am passionate about.

My “why” is my want and desire to get the information I have learned out into the world. My mistakes are ones that others shouldn’t have to work their way through. I’ve done it for them already! haha.

Additionally, my “why” lies in the legacy I want to leave behind. I want those around me to know what I stood for and the type of person that I was. I’m not just a pretty face, there is intellect there too! And perseverance to push through the difficult times.

“If you can tune into your purpose and really align with it, setting goals so that your vision is an expression of that purpose, then life flows much more easily.”

Jack Canfield

But most of all, I don’t want people to hurt as I have hurt. I can’t push away all the pain, but I can help to soften the blow when it is also something I have experienced. Because I have gone through it, I can show others that you can and will come out okay on the other side. There are things that I can bring up that are to be expected in these situations so that a person isn’t blindsided when they do happen.

It’s a way for me to turn my pain into healing and happiness. It’s my reason for why.

“Everyone has been made for some particular work and the desire for that work has been put in every heart.”

Jalaluddin Rumi

To that end, I just completed my coursework and am now a Certified Confidence Coach! My hope is to utilize the information I learned to help others grow in ways that I am just now able to.

I also just released my third book – “Be Strong, Beautiful, Smart, And Brave” and the focus is on boosting up those that need it. Everyone has greatness inside of them, but many go without knowing it or accepting it. Not everyone has somebody next to them cheering them on, so they have to find a way to show themselves that they have value. This book is a quick read and is meant to be multi-generational. As a young girl, you can read it and come out of it with something. Growing up, that same girl can read it again and come away with a different message. As an adult, it can be read to get a self-esteem or confidence boost when it’s needed most. And to round it out, it can be read to our youngest humans to propel forward a cycle of strong, beautiful, smart, and brave individuals.

“Take stock of you and your situation and start taking action toward what comes to you naturally.”

Som Bathla

So that is my why. When I think of trying to figure out what to do with my life, I realize that I am doing it. All of my education and life experience has taught me to be a better human. And keeping all of those life lessons inside and not sharing them would be worthless. If my words help just a select few to have better outcomes, then I will have done my life justice.
